just flicking this lure
at the trout stream

every stop
the deer becomes lost
in rifle sights

school year ends
the lunch box and bullies
I’ve been through

soft lit dinner
desires rubbing
his wine glass

chicken coop
the fox’s eye split
between leaves

down-pipe rains
the plants carried away
I never could name

hearing less
the dance floor rhythms
in the music

Tango in lights
coming from opposites
we touch-release-touch and sway

hearing less
her maze of opinions
about the house
