to a future in honey

Pacific rim
a sailboat
its future on the edge

cellar wines–
I cannot tell
what age brings

rain drizzles
the camp site–
the school holidays too

midnight–
moths just know
to circle the street lights

holding the memory
I hold
the kid’s tree house

in her songs
the bird has no joys
to darken

in no songs
can the magpie tell
joys desert

praising dawn
a magpie
the first soprano

lightning
Laurel’s startle
turns to darkness
