one o’clock snack
in the fridge light
in the heat

autumn leaves–
herding a cat
with a rake

afternoon winds
the mother’s kittens
ambushing leaves

moonlight
the vanished owl
an after-image

another couple
slow to pass
our frangipanis

against the wind
her kimono’s
autumn leaves

falls and rustles
the backyard struggles
with autumn

coloured balloons
her birthday voices
for party friends

crows swear in long oaths
hills rivulet the storms out
and dawn becomes light
