Rain-soaked mail
Laurel selects the one
hand written.

Wild winds
my mind measuring
the loss of sleep.

Sunday afternoon
the purr of her kitten
in the dancing girl’s arms.

Tugging more sea
at the end of its chain
the pleasure yacht.

Autumn evening
ironing father’s only suit
I try on his warm coat.

Wide eyed giggles
the dog’s tied leash
pulling the stroller.

Midday meal
the scurry of the mud-crabs
sensing our intent.

Spring sprouts a sunflower
leaving the garden stones
in their dank black earth.

Midnight
graffiti drying
along the old girl’s fence.
