Father’s leather prayer book
binding us.

Summer dies
listening in
the cicadas’ hot hearts .

Midnight lake
a salmon leaps from
its hole in the moon.

Closing time
letting the pretty bar-maid
pirate our change.

Drifting canoe
the urge to sleep
on the tides to the moon.

Into a great silence
a whale rising
among the loose ice.

Ah!! Paris
sipping our long cool drinks
under our white straw hats.

Padded bar stool
her long green iced drink
alone.

Red-flowering Gum tree
a bee hum following
the bees hums in.

Meditation
a letter fluttering
through the door flap.
